Fully Funded Masters and PhD in King Abdul-Aziz University, Saudi Arabia for Both Males and Females
Graduate (Masters, PhD) applications are open at King Abdul-Aziz University, Saudi Arabia.
Guide Written by the Current Student at King Abdul-Aziz University
I am a current student here. Trying to write details of current facilities and rules to apply.

First of all, it is necessary to know about the facilities here. Because many people are not interested in coming to the Middle East because they don't know the facilities. Again, many people may suffer from dissatisfaction after coming without knowing the correct information. (Also university website sometimes does not update the information on time.)

What is in the scholarship?
- Here chance means scholarship. You will receive a fully funded scholarship, with accommodation.
- In Masters/PhD you will get a total stipend of 1890 Riyals per month. (890 Riyals on 27th of the month, remaining 1000 Riyals at any other time of the following month).
- Arrival air ticket (usually given within 6 months of arrival, we received in 4 months).
- Accommodation for singles.
- 1800 Rial preparation allowance upon arrival.
- 900 Riyals per year for buying books.
- 2700 riyals to take the books home after the degree.
- Free transportation from hostel to varsity.
What is not in the scholarship?
- There is no free accommodation with the current family. If you apply for a family home, it may take 2/3 years to get a home. In addition, now I have to pay 500 Riyals monthly for the family house.
- Can't come with family at first. After arriving, you can apply for a family visa after completing at least 1 semester. In that case you must show proof of house rent outside at your own expense.
- New students are initially taken to Umrah, then other times at their own expense. Depending on the availability of university funds, some students are allowed to perform the Hajj.
- Scope of extra income by working as TA/RA here is almost nil.
- The research environment here is not so advanced as in Europe-America. In which department you want to come, you must know well and then apply.
- Research Funds will totally depend on how you deal with the professor you are working with. There is no default fund, so you have to burn wood.
- Must leave Saudi after completing the degree. There is no scope to get a job here as a Pakistani. And even if you get it, after completing your degree, you have to change the visa type and come again. Which is very unlikely to happen.
- Increases the price of everything and since the situation in Saudi has changed from before, food is not subsidized here. You have to buy and eat from the canteen at roughly the original price.
From here you decide whether to apply. The rest will completely depend on your career goals and mindset.

Now come to the application process.

What is required to apply?
- IELTS Score (5.5 Minimum, better if more)
- Recommendation Letter (2 from your former supervisor or teacher)
- Updated Resume
- Statement of Purpose (Good one)
- Valid Passport
- Certificate and Transcript (Attestation not required initially)
- Photo
- No fee is needed
Max. age for PhD is 35 years

How to apply?
I have applied to many universities around the world. Of these, King Abdul-Aziz seems to be the easiest to apply. So no need to go to any agency, apply at home yourself.
Which programs can I apply to?
I am giving a list of it in the link below. The list is taken from girls portal. Almost the same programs are available for boys
What are the chances of girls getting a chance?
According to the current policy, girls can apply without Mahram. But it is better to say that living here without a mahram is very difficult. Besides, I think it will take extra time to get admission without Mahram. Because there is a shortage of hostels for girls. But they must apply for it
How long can applications be made?
Generally, the portal closes around March. But may end sooner or later. No specific deadline is known.
I hope you all will apply using the links below
